Welcome, my name is Laura Zwep and I am assistant professor in Statistics and Pharmacometrics at the Systems Pharmacology and Pharmacy department at the LACDR, Leiden University. My background is in biology (BSc) and applied statistics (MSc) and in 2023 I finished my PhD, titled ‘Statistical learning for complex data to enable precision medicine strategies‘, under supervision of Coen van Hasselt and Jacqueline Meulman.
My research focuses on how to answer scientific questions with more complex data, such as high-dimensional and longitudinal data, especially in the field of pharmacometrics. I enjoy collaborating with both experts in pharmacology, microbiology and biomedicine and experts in (mathematical) statistics, which enables me to form a bridge between statistical techniques and bio-pharmaceutical questions and data.
My current position includes 50% teaching. I have teaching experience in a wide range of topics including programming in R and Python and statistics at both master and bachelor level, and I am currently teaching in the BSc Biofarmaceutische Wetenschappen. I believe statistics education is very important to propel empirical sciences forwards and I am very happy to be involved in the development and lecturing of statistics education. If you want to learn more about my research or me, please do not hesitate to contact me.
